A Night of “Kababalaghan”

I am too lazy to write a decent review so I decided to do this in bullets.

  • The first segment with a fat guy scared the hell out of me! And no, I don’t want to be a paranormal cartographic sketch artist.
  • Stargazer and the antiques is just okay. But I expected more.
  • I enjoyed the features about demonic possessions having witnessed the same back in the day. Back in 2005, when I was a fresh grad of the minor seminary and was assigned at Santo Tomas Batangas, 3 possessed HS Students were brought to us in the Parish.  And it still gives me a chill in the spine whenever I recall those events.
  • Simula ngayon, hindi na ako basta-basta iihi kung saan. Baka may maihian akong ahas. Kawawa pag nagkataon si ‘junjun’..
  • Gone are the days of Kapre, Aswang, Engkanto, and Floating Caskets. Haha!
  • I would like to commend the team behind “Kababalaghan” for featuring demonic possession and exorcism. The fight between good against evil is REAL.

The show maybe boring and disappointing (and religious on the last part) for some who put a high expectation on it (expecting it to be the old school MGB) but I personally liked it. Old school stories of elementals and restless spirits (plus the funny reenactments) would no longer scare me.

All in all, the show was good. Except for the feature on Master Charles. He should have used corn starch or flour. Or a can of Master Sardines. (Kidding!)

And by the way, if you really want to have a sleepless nights, try reading “Exorcism: Encounters with the Paranormal and the Occult” by Fr. Jose Francisco “Jocis” Syquia. I had a sleepless nights in College for a week after reading the book.
